DRY SEASON itinerary
June to December
Just $460 for 3 days! (plus $45 pay on board kitty)
Day 1
6:00am pick up from your Darwin accommodation.
First stop, Adelaide River for a personalised Crocodile Cruise on our own boat (max 9 passengers). We feed huge crocodiles.
Then it's off to see:
Cathedral termite mounds, home to one of our many termite species
White Lily Billabong (lots of bird life)
Maguk (Barramundi Gorge) - hiking & swimming
We take in a magnificent sunset over Yellow Waters before heading to our overnight camp at Garnamarr Camp Ground or Jim Jim Billabong campground. Enjoy REAL camp fire cooking! Sit around the fire after dinner for some
didgeridoo lessons and Dreamtime stories.
Day 2
We wake up with the Kookaburra call (early).
Then it's off for a spot of real 4 Wheel Driving to explore Jim Jim and Twin Falls.
We hike the 8km right to the top of Jim Jim Falls (230 metres high) or Twin Falls. Take in the spectacular views and enjoy a swim to cool off.
Back down to the bottom, walking through monsoon rain forest to the Jim Jim plunge pool and relax on the sandy beach after this big day.
We head off back to camp for another spectacular dinner.
After dinner we go on a night walk to view the nocturnal wildlife - two thirds of Kakadu’s wildlife is active at night.
Day 3
Up early, we don’t want to miss out.
Today we visit several ancient Aboriginal Rock Art sites. Your guide is on hand to explain the many symbols and the painting methods used to create these amazing works of art.
We visit Mamukala Wet Lands for another stunning display of birdlife. Mamukala is beautiful all year but it's most dramatic in the late dry season (Sept-Oct) when thousands of magpie geese congregate to feed.
We finish our day at Annaburroo Billabong - another great spot for a swim. You can also take out a canoe and explore the billabong.
We return you to your Darwin accommodation around 7.30pm.
